Goldens

Heavy Body

Goldens carries 4 different lines of acrylic paint all unique in their own way, they consist of Heavy Body, Open, Fluid and High Flow. Heavy Body paints are known for their exceptionally smooth, buttery consistency, its palette includes the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion available to professional artists. These colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness.

Open

Goldens Open is slow-drying paint with a slightly softer consistency than the Heavy Body paints. The working time of these colors expands their range to include more traditional techniques once only possible with oils.

Fluids

The Fluid Acrylics line has the same pigment load as the Heavy Body Acrylics, but in a viscosity similar to heavy cream. Fluids allow for smooth flowing applications while retaining color intensity, tinting strength, film integrity, and adhesion. Golden Fluids are great for dry brush application, fine details, pouring, spraying (particularly when mixed with GOLDEN Airbrush Medium), staining techniques and many others.

High Flow

Finally their new line of Goldens High Flow paint that can go from brush to marker or from dip pen to airbrush and more. From fine lines to broad strokes, High Flow Acrylic has an ink-like consistency that lends itself to a wide range of techniques, including staining, leveling, calligraphy, and mixed media.

Heavy Body

Liquitex offers several different kinds of acrylic paint from Professional Acrylic Colors to Basic Value Colors. Their professional acrylic colors are broken down into two different categories which consist of heavy body and soft body.  Heavy body has a thick consistency for traditional art techniques that use brushes or knives, as well as for experimental, mixed media, collage and printmaking applications.

Soft Body

Winsor & Newtons acrylic line has two different categories Professional Acrylics and Galleria Acrylics. The Professional Acrylics are the very finest acrylic paints. They also allow for a larger working time without compromising the famous acrylic fast-drying time. The Professional Acrylics line offers 80 brilliant colors to chose from.

Galleria

Their second line which consist of Galleria Acrylics are wonderfully affordable and yet impressive in their vibrancy and quality. They are made with a high level of pigment and created opaque versions of some naturally transparent colors. The texture is buttery enough for quick and easy coverage but thick enough for brush marks to remain. The Galleria Acrylics offer up to 60 magnificent colors to choose from.

Galleria

Using Galleria’s Acrylic Mediums can be nothing short of transformative. From slowing drying times to adding texture, mediums are the perfect complement to your color choices. Conveniently, all of their acrylic mediums are fully compatible with the Professional Acrylic and Galleria Acrylic colors – and they can be used to achieve a variety of effects.  While there is an exhaustive list of possibilities with the use of mediums, the best ways to use acrylic mediums is to enhance your practice and perhaps even the color performance of your chosen palette.

Goldens

Goldens line of mediums are a great addition to their line of acrylic paints. They carry gels, molding paste, gels with aggregates, effects paste, pourable gel, slow drying medium, special purpose mediums, fluid mediums and additives. Gel mediums are great ways to build texture they are used to create glazes, extend paint and change finishes. It also makes great adhesives for collage and mixed media. The gel mediums range from soft gels all the way to high solid gels. Molding paste can broaden the working properties because they can create foundations for painting to create texture over a smoother surface, or to smooth out a textured surface. Molding pastes range from light molding paste to coarse/extra heavy molding paste. Effects paste consist of fiber paste (which gives the appearance of handmade paper) and crackle paste (which produces a crackle appearance as it dries).

Liquitex

Liquitex carries a variety of mediums all which are capable of exciting various techniques, textures and finishes to your acrylic artwork. The different types of acrylic mediums consist of surface prep, fluid mediums, gel mediums, effects mediums and varnish. Surface prep focuses on priming and preparing the canvas or other surfaces for stable and permanent color applications. Fluid mediums can thin the acrylic paint, change the sheen and opacity, increase the drying time and flow. Gel mediums is the opposite of fluid mediums in that they thicken the paint, change the sheen and opacity, slow drying and extend color volume. Effects mediums changes the acrylics themselves to create a infinite variety of effects for example natural sand or blending fibers. Lastly varnish is used to seal and protect the artwork while evening out the sheen and feel of the piece. All of these varying effects can help improve the overall look and texture of acrylic artwork.
